It wouldn’t be Halloween without the release of a horror game, and after going months without a release date, Visage has taken up the gauntlet to suddenly announce its release for next week. SadSquare Studios took to Steam to announce the news, and that it will debut on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on October 30th. Primarily a psychological horror game in which players explore a haunted house, Visage will also feature jump scares with all kinds of nasty ghouls. Just check out the announcement trailer. I’m not going to lie, I jumped.
Players on Steam may note that the game has been playable on early access for some time. The full release will see the game arrive for the first time on consoles, and will include twice the amount of gameplay as it had on Steam’s early access. As such, the price will be updated from $24.99 to $34.99 for the full game. However, those who already have the early access release will get the full game for free.
Alternatively, players can still get the early access game for $24.99 until October 28th and get the update for free. After that, the price for the full game will be $34.99. The only downside to that is that saves will not carry over from the early access version of the game to the full one, as there are significant enough differences between the two.
The game received funding through Kickstarter, which mentions the games that influenced it from adventure horror Phantasmagoria to much missed first-person P.T. Taking place in a house in a secluded town in the 1980s, Visage tasks players with exploring the various deaths of the people who previously lived in the home. The gameplay is exploratory, with no weapons that players can defend themselves with, only using the objects they find to escape the terror. Players will also have to manage a “stress meter” as they explore the haunted locale.
So whether you helped fund the game on Kickstarter, got it on early access through Steam, or plan on getting it in October 30th, you’ll be able to trade going out on Halloween for staying in and experiencing the horror of Visage.
