The upcoming brawler title for the Xbox One, Battletoads, has been under fire lately due to the art style and earlier footage of the game indicated a slower-paced game.
Now, while I can’t talk about that, as I think the game looks fine, I also haven’t played the game. Thankfully, Rare has started releasing small clips of the game in action.
Below are two recent tweets from share, complete with footage of our heroic trio in action.
Despite being toads, it's taken our trio 29 years and some encouragement from @dlalastudios to learn how to use their tongues in combat (thanks for the lessons @KillerInstinct)! In their defence, we don't suppose rowdy rats and punk pigs would taste too good… #Battletoads pic.twitter.com/tqFmi7LPlq

Combat in @dlalastudios' Battletoads allows for some raucous aerial raves thanks to launchers and tongue-based antics! Combined with their swift dash, a squad of skilled 'Toads can juggle and bounce baddies with surprising style and grace. pic.twitter.com/A9wR3ILjyn

Sure, these clips aren’t very long and I wished they were, but at the very least it does show that the game has been sped up. I would have liked to see more co-op features shown off, but I suspect we’ll see gameplay footage ahead of the release.
Even if these videos don’t convince you, as long as you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, you’ll be able to play Battletoads on day one. I dunno about you, but I loved Battletoads as a child and I look forward to checking out this new title. Hopefully, it’s not as hard… I’m not as young as I used to be.
Battletoads is set to be released on August 20th, 2020, for both Xbox One and PC.
