It’s not often a show gets renewed for a new season before the latest one even premieres, but it looks like The Boys is not your usual show. Indeed, the exploits of a group of people working to take down corrupt corporate superheroes has made a big splash, even before its second season arrives.
The new season is set to start on Amazon Prime on September 4, but it is already green lit for season 3. It was announced during its panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where the cast also shared a clip from the first episode of the upcoming season.
Here’s the official synopsis for season 2:
In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.
However, given the global pandemic, there’s no word as to when the new season will be shot, so fans will have to wait a while longer before getting even more of the righteous, kick-ass justice only Karl Urban can supply.
