Ryosuke Yoshida, known for this work on Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5 and Monster Hunter, has announced that he has parted ways with the company.
Yoshida posted the news of him departing via Twitter, where he also shared what’s next for him. He does hint that he’ll be leaving Japan, once COVID-19 calms down. Until then, he’ll be working remotely.
On a personal note,I quit Capcom on July 4.
I was very happy to be able to develop for 12 years at Capcom.
From now on,I will leave Japan and go overseas to develop games for next-gen.
(I work from home in JP until COVID-19 calms down.)
I will continue doing my best!— Ryosuke Yoshida (@YoshidaBeer) July 6, 2020
Ryosuke won’t be going far as he’s headed to the new gaming studio headed by NetEase, NetEase Games Sakura Studio, as a Senior Game Designer. This new studio was created to focus on next-generation gaming, main and Ryosuke looks like he’ll be quite busy over there.
As for NetEase, many will recognize them as China’s second-largest gaming entity, and easily one of the largest gaming companies in the world. They helped Blizzard gain a foothold in the Chinese gaming market by localizing and publishing several of their titles, including Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Diablo III, and Overwatch. Netease is also currently working with Blizzard on the development of the mobile-based Diablo title, Diablo Immortal.

Looks NetEase is looking to pick up more talent and I suspect that the acquisition of Ryosuke won’t be the last. The Chinese gaming market is heating up of the past few years and as you can see, things are going to get a lot more interesting as the arrival of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X get closer and closer.
It’s all an interesting turn of events, especially since China was against gaming consoles for quite some time. Now the country is a major player in the current gaming market and looks to be for the foreseeable future.
