While the original developer of the action-RPG Kingdoms of Amalur, 38 Studios, is no longer with us, I’m sure they’ll be happy to know that their title is getting another chance at life. According to THQ Nordic, the game will see a re-release on September 8th, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Yes, that is a delay, as the original release was set for an August 202 release.
Kingdoms of Amalur, while it wasn’t the hit that the dev was going for, it did manage to win the hearts of those who stuck with the game, as it was a surprisingly enjoyable title. Now, eight years later, not only are we getting a remaster of sorts, but we’re also getting new content! As what that content is, that’s anyone’s guess as THQ hasn’t specifically mentioned what’s new.
This re-release will include all three DLC’s; Legend of Dead Kel, Teeth of Naros, Weapons & Armor Bundle. There’s currently no word of if current owners of the original game will receive a discount or a free upgrade as of yet.
On top of that, we also know that the game is going to receive a new expansion called Fatesworn, in 2021. This is new information, and it’s also exciting to see this game even get an expansion. Again, we don’t know anything about this, but I suspect we’ll find out soon enough.
I still remember playing this game back in 2012 and I spent over 60 hours on this game. I loved it, and between this and Dark Souls, I was in heaven. Needless to state, I’m looking forward to this re-release. I’m sure I’ve forgotten everything about this game so going into it eight years later is going to be interesting.
