Tomorrow, June 9th, 2020 at 9am PDT/12pm EDT Destiny 2’s newest Fall Expansion and final season of Year 3, Season 11 will be revealed at long last. Today, however, less than 24 hours before said reveal, the title of Season 11, previously referred to as Season of [REDACTED] by Bungie to the public, has been leaked along with a potential release date for the upcoming expansion.
In the image above, we get a look at the new seasonal Silver bundle offering upon the Australian PlayStation store, which has since been taken down. In this $21.95AUD (likely $19.99USD), players will receive a total of 1,700 Silver in-game currency, as well as the Strange Visitors legendary emote, of which is included in the background of the image at the top left of the listing.
On top of all of this, the title of the season will be “Season of Arrivals”, which lines up with a Portuguese player’s theory after they had a pop-up in-game when returning to orbit that read, “Temporada das Aparições” in Portuguese, or “Temporada de los Visitantes” in Spanish. Both of which loosely translates to “season of the Arrival” in English. Thanks to Skyteddy for that on the Destiny subreddit yesterday afternoon.
We were also briefly able to get our hands on the rest of the item’s description which clues us in on when to expect the Fall Expansion: September 22nd, 2020.
As is fairly typical of these product descriptions, this one lets players know the required storage space for the installation of the game until it’s next release, at which point it is subject to change. Here, we see that the game requires a hefty 105 GB, but we also see the September 22nd, 2020 date, and that gives us an idea for when we may see the beginning of Year 4 for Destiny 2.
We’ve already gotten 2 teasers for the upcoming reveal and subsequent release, showing both fan-favorite Eris Morn trekking along the icy surface of what is most likely Europa, a moon of Jupiter, and the Drifter flying towards the same supposed location, of which we’ve only seen in concept art from Destiny 1. Bungie has a habit of introducing new locations in their major annual expansions, each one giving us the Dreadnaught, Plaguelands, Tangled Shore and Dreaming City, and the Moon thus far. Bungie has also made note of attempting to keep the game’s file size down, so we fan theories are leaning towards one of the game’s destinations being removed, a likely option being Titan.
I could honestly speculate for hours and hours about what the next expansion is going to be, but instead, we’ll just have to wait a few more hours to find out for ourselves. What do you hope to see from the Fall Expansion? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to The Outerhaven for all of your Destiny 2 news!
Destiny 2 is currently available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Google Stadia. Bungie has also announced that Destiny 2 will be coming to Xbox Series X and PS5.
