This Is Why Future Connected Is In Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition

By Todd BlackMay 25, 2020
Xenoblade Chronicles

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is quite literally days away from being released, and many are eager for a new experience, or for those who have played it before, a remastered experience. But of course, that’s not all that’s new with the game. We’re also getting a brand new epilogue in the form of Future Connected.

This will take you to a new part of Bionis and bring both Shulk and Melia (along with some Nopons) on a new adventure for you to enjoy. But why exactly was the content made so long after the original game? In the latest issue of Famitsu, Monolith Soft president and creator Tetsuya Takahashi said this about Future Connected’s creation:

“It’s because we felt bad for Melia… I’m only half-joking when I say that. With Future Connected, we’re able to draw in those who’ve already played Xenoblade Chronicles; moreover, there’s details there that connect to the future of Xenoblade. So we created it for two and a half reasons. Another rationale being we had an unused map from the main game, the Bionis’ shoulder, which was appropriate for the setting.”

The “future of Xenoblade” is what has us the most curious. Mainly as many expect there to be a fourth game in the franchise, and we also know that Monolith Studios is making a brand new title as well. So what will come first? We’ll find out when we get to play Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition this Friday.
