Fans of the Percy Jackson series rejoice! Even in the midst of a pandemic, it looks like Disney+ is still hard at work getting more programming. And their next show is an adaptation of the popular Percy Jackson books.
Author Rick Riordan broke the news and gave the cutest announcement in a video on Twitter:

He later added in a statement: “We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one. Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show.”
If you’ve never heard of the series, the books follow a group of demigod children, all of whom have a Greek god for a parent. It follows the titular Percy Jackson, who is the son of the sea god Poseidon. Along the way, we meet satyrs, centaurs, and other demigods, the kids of Athena, Aphrodite, Hades, and more. If the TV show will cover the five books of the series, that means it include The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, and The Last Olympian.
No cast has been announced yet, nor a showrunner. It’s important to note that this is merely a development order and, while it’s not likely that Disney would let a series announcement order go out without some degree of certainty, it might not make it to the screen.
There is currently no estimate as to when the unnamed Percy Jackson adaptation.
