Xbox Series X 3rd party gaming goodness
While Xbox has been drip-feeding various bits regarding the pending Xbox Series X console, there isn’t been much in terms of games. Sure, we already know about several key games which include Halo Infinite, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and an optimized Gears 5, as first-party titles. But what about the 3rd party entries? When are we going to see who else currently has games in the pipeline that show off the power of the Xbox Series X? Well, if Xbox’s recent tweet is any indication, we won’t have to wait much longer.
According to this tweet, Xbox will be hosting Inside Xbox next week, on May 7th, 2020 @ 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, where they’ll show next-gen gameplay from their “global developers partners”. Or better known as 3rd party companies. Now, this is important for a couple of reasons. This will be the first time that we’ll get a look at 3rd party games from (hopefully) a large variety of studios. We’ll also see them running on finished or nearly finished Xbox Series X hardware. While it was rumored that developers have had access to the hardware for a while, next week is when they’ll be to show off what they’ve been working on.

If you’re not excited about this, you should be. This will be the first of many live streams that will kick-off the next-gen console experience, and believe it or not the next-gen consoles aren’t that far away.
Lastly, with Xbox doing this, you can bet that PlayStation won’t be too far behind. It was already rumored that a PlayStation 5 event is being planned for late May or early June 2020. With Microsoft going first (again), I’m more than certain Sony will be following up as not let Microsoft have all the fun.
That said, thanks to today’s announcement from Ubisoft, we know that one of the games we can look forward to seeing is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Ironically, Microsoft has the advertising rights to this latest chapter, so I except the company hype up the release quite a bit. Cyberpunk 2077 could also make an appearance, as CD Projekt Red has already stated that they are working on an upgraded version of the title for both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. I wonder what other games we can expect to see next week.
