Update: Hello Games has released the trailer officially and has provided some information regarding the mech. The Minotaur, as its being called, a new way to traverse and explore planetary surfaces.
Featuring a powerful jetpack for leaping, the mech is also immune to planetary hazards and can mine without injuring the pilot. The Minotaur will be introduced in No Man’s Sky update 2.4, which is available today.
This update also includes several other updates, such as new graphical options, powerline management, and other QOL changes. More information regarding the mech and update can be found here.

Thanks to a blunder on Xbox’s part who jumped the gun and posted trailer ahead of the official announcement, showing Mechs being featured in No Man’s Sky.
Of course, this trailer was pulled, but not before keen folks grabbed a copy and reposted it everywhere they could. We also managed to snag a copy of this footage.
*Official trailer released*
As you can see in the trailer, these mechs are quite large, slow, yet they do have the ability to sustain flight for a few seconds. They also have a detailed cockpit view as well, so you won’t have to use a 3rd person perspective.
However, with the inclusion of these mechs, you have to wonder what else is next. Mainly because they seem like overkill for a game such as No Man’s Sky. That is unless there’s something else coming over the horizon. Something that might require the use of a mech, maybe some sort of conflict DLC or expansion.
I suppose we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation from Hello Games. Who may be very upset at Xbox right about now.
No Man’s Sky is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
