Update: Now available on the Epic Games Store.
Original story below.
One of the more asked questions I see is when is the PC version of SNK’s Samurai Shodown being released. Mainly due to the company being terrible at communication. But thanks to a recent update from Epic Games, we know more info on the title. One bit of news is that the game will be released on the Epic Games Store, this Spring 2020.
In a recent trailer released, we can see Samurai Shodown being shown alongside a handful of other games. All of which will be available on the Epic Games Store.
There’s a summary for Samurai Shodown listed as well:
Legendary warriors return to fight for the fate of the world! This brand new game features high-end visuals and gameplay, paired with faithfully reproduced mechanics and atmosphere to carry on the Samurai Shodown legacy.
I can’t say I’m surprised that the game is heading to EGS, seeing how it was developed with the Unreal Engine 4. With most games being created via Epic Games tools eventually finding their way over to the storefront. Hopefully, this doesn’t cause any issues amongst the PC fighting game community.
Update: The store page is currently up on the Epic Games Store. There’s no release date or price listed.
So at least we have a time frame on when to expect this, which is better than nothing at all. You can see the game being shown in the trailer below at the 00:45 mark.
Samurai Shodown features 16 playable characters, with 13 returning from previous titles, along with three newcomers. There have been two season passes that have been released for the game, and now SNK is looking to expand the game into the eSports scene. If only they could fix the netcode, which has been a boon for many players of this title.
Samurai Shodown is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and Google Stadia.
