Looks like all those PC gamers who were waiting on Death Stranding won’t have to wait as long as we originally figured. Following the November 2019 release of the title for the PS4, I figured we’d see it on the PC much later. I was completely wrong as 505 Games have announced that the PC version will see a June 2nd, 2020, release date. Talk about coming sooner than expected.
What’s more, is Death Stranding will come to both Steam and the Epic Games Store at the same time. So hopefully there won’t be any fighting when it comes to what digital storefront to purchase the game from. There will be two versions of the game; a standard edition priced at $59.99 and a Day 1 physical edition for $69.99. With the latter also including a steelbook and a slipcase. Damn it, you all know I love my steelbooks, so I may have to get this version.
For those pre-purchase the game ahead of the release date, you’ll score the following goodies;
• HD Wallpapers
• “SAM” SUNGLASSES (CHIRAL GOLD AND OMNIREFLECTOR)*
• CAP (CHIRAL GOLD AND OMNIREFLECTOR)*
• GOLD and SILVER SPEED SKELETON*
• GOLD and SILVER ARMOUR PLATE*
All copies of the game will also additionally include:
• DEATH STRANDING Official Score Expanded Edition digital soundtrack by Ludvig Forssell, including 10 unreleased bonus tracks.
• “Selections From ‘The Art of Death Stranding’” Digital Book (by Titan Books)
• LUDENS MASK SUNGLASSES (CHIRAL GOLD AND OMNIREFLECTOR)*
• GOLD and SILVER POWER SKELETON*
• GOLD and SILVER ALL-TERRAIN SKELETON*
• GOLD and SILVER ARMOUR PLATE LV2*
Of course, what good is a PC port of a console game if there aren’t any enhancements? Thankfully, Death Stranding for PC will come with not only 4K support, but also ultrawide monitor support, a photo mode, and higher framerates. As a surprise announcement, if you pick up the game on Steam, you’ll also get several pieces of bonus content from the Half-Life series.
Developed by Kojima Productions, Death Stranding was one of the most anticipated projects of the last decade. Starring Norman Reedus as Sam Bridges, the game takes place in the near future, where mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam to journey across the ravaged wasteland to save mankind from impending annihilation.
The groundbreaking experience from legendary game creator Hideo Kojima also features the acting and voice talents of Mads Mikkelsen and Lea Seydoux.
Now, I’ll be honest here. I did purchase Death Stranding for the PS4, but I’ve yet to play it. I mean, I was going to, that is until the PC version was announced. So I decided to wait for… the superior version of the game (don’t hurt me) and well, it’s coming. Double dipping, here I come.
