Today, it was announced that the recent update for The Witcher 3 has introduced save file integration, among other things. This means that you’ll be able to grab your The Witcher 3 game save from both Steam and GOG versions of the game and import them to the Switch.
In addition to this, the game now has touch screen support, more text languages, added graphical options and has been optimized even more. Though, since I don’t own a copy of the game, I can’t tell you how much more the game has improved.
So if you were thinking about picking up The Witcher 3 for the Switch but didn’t want to put in all those hours again. Now, you don’t have an excuse, and come to think of it, neither do I.

That said, CD Projekt Red has cautioned that if you do transfer your game save, you may also transfer over some mod-related bugs. So if you have any mods enabled, be sure to disable them, then save the game. You’ll also want to make sure the game save naming convention hasn’t been changed, as the cloud save feature that does the importing won’t recognize the file.
The fact this has happened not only gives me hope that more companies will adopt this practice going forward. But that it will also pressure other companies into doing it. We’ve already seen this being utilized for Destiny 2 and Divinity Original Sin II, but we need this for more games. We need this for more platforms.
The Witcher 3 is now available on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
