During today’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC reveal Livestream, it was also announced that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will see another Fighters Pass.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass 2, will feature 6 additional characters, of which have already been finalized. Meaning, even if Sakurai and crew get thousands of requests to add fan favorites, it won’t matter. This Fighters Pack will go up for pre-order on January 28th, 2020. All of the new DLC characters will be released by December 31, 2021.
It was also mentioned that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is apparently the number one fighting game in sales of all time. Something of which Sakurai isn’t sure of, as he recants that perhaps this crown belongs to Street Fighter 2 due to all the different variations of the game. But for a single piece of software, it looks like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate now holds that title. To add fire to the ongoing debate, he also once again questions if Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is more than just a fighting game.
As a pre-order bonus, the Ancient Solider costume for Mii Swordfighter from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be included with the Fighter’s Pass. It will not be made available individually.
More details to come regarding this Fighter’s Pass soon.
