All hail Rule 34 Seth
Last night during the end of the Capcom Cup, both Yoshinori Ono and Kenny Omega took to the stage via a colorful skit to announce the latest Street Fighter V character. A return of sorts for yet another boss character and one I didn’t see happening, but it did. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Seth. Oh, but it’s not the Seth you remember, nope. This time, he’s rocking a new body, a doll’s body which looks very similar to Juri.
No, I’m not lying. Seth’s form of payback is by taking the look of the person who left him for dead in Street Fighter IV. Just take a look at Seth 2.0, or Rule 34 Seth, below.
In the trailer, you can see the mention “Doll Unit 0” and not “Seth Unit 0”, which begs to ask, who did this. Bison, since he has an unhealthy obsession with the dolls. Maybe Juri since she’s Illuminati? Capcom’s not saying much so we’ll have to wait for more answers.
Not much has changed here, as Seth can still mimic other fighters moves, in addition to his/her own. There’s even a V-Trigger called Tandem Maneuver that looks like Yamcha’s Spirit Ball from Dragon Ball Z, where Seth can control the flight of the projectile. Which is pretty cool if you ask me.
For the purists, you can still use the original look of Seth by switching to the Nostalgia costume. I’m not sure why Capcom went this route if I’m being honest. There are so many other characters they could have went with. Instead of a character that most people have been asking for… coughMakotocough, Capcom gives us Rule 34 Seth. Hell, he’s even using the same male voice – take about weird.
If you’re looking to get your hands on Seth, you’ll have to wait as he won’t be available until Feb. 14th, 2020. Which is when Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will be released for the PS4 and PC. But you can get your hands on Gill, who happens to be yet another boss character who also returned in Street Fighter V and he’s available now.
