Update: A few weeks back we reported on the Dark Souls favorite, You Died: The Dark Souls Companion getting a hardcover edition. Which happened to be the original vision for the book, before it ultimately was printed as a softcover. Well, today we’re happy to announce that the hardcover has been funded!
This also means that the special stretch goal, which I’m not going to spoil, is also going to make its way into the book. There are still 9 days left, so you can still toss in a few dollars and get a piece of Dark Souls history. Either way, this is happening and I’m so glad that it is.

A You Died: The Dark Souls Companion hardcover edition?
Calling all Dark Souls fans, you’re going to want to see this. There’s a new Dark Souls hardcover book that needs your help to see the light of day.
While most of you already own a copy of You Died: The Dark Souls Companion, it’s in a softcover. But did you know that the original idea was for it to be released as a hardcover? Apparently the original publisher thought that it was too expensive and that it wouldn’t sell.

Fast forward several years later, where the writers of the book, Keza MacDonald and Jason Killingsworth, have returned to the idea of releasing a hardcover. With Jason creating his own publishing company called “Tune & Fairweather”. Guess what the first thing is he wants to publish? Yep, the hardcover edition of You Died: The Dark Souls Companion.
This book will feature 352 pages, real cloth brillianta wrapping, 120gsm uncoated pages and it’s thick at 9.17″ x 6.92″! Inside will be tons of lore, secrets, art. Perfect for the gaming room shelf, the coffee table or a gift for that Dark Souls fan in your life.
Here’s where you can help make his dream a reality. Jason has posted a campaign on Kickstarter to get the hardcover published and we’re all going to have to pitch in. Right now there are several tiers, from just donating to the cause, all the way up to having your name featured in the book.
As you can imagine, the Dark Souls lover (sucker) that I am, I already donated. There’s a nice teir that gets you two hardcover copies, one with a black cover, the other white. Check those out below and tell me those don’t look sexy.
Should the campaign be successful, the book will be delivered by March 2020. At the time of writing this article, the campaign has made $17, 628.00 USD (172 backers) of its goal shy of $56,000. There are still 23 days to go, so get in there and help get this book made.
Think about it, you and everyone else who donates will be the only owners of this book. This won’t be available in stores unless you sell yours. This is a must-have for fans of the game, collectors or for those who just like cool looking books.
Let’s get this made!
