Looks like the Resident Evil 3 Remake is happening and there’s more proof that indicates this. This time around it was noticed that three covers from the game were floating around on the PlayStation servers. These covers were spotted by Gamstat, a service that tracks games that are added to the PlayStation Network. This was first observed on Resetera.
While there are three images, two are the same, yet the accompanying information is not. Two of the images show them being for the Japan region, with two different CUSA numbers (identifiers), CUSA14129_00 (BIOHAZARD RE:3) and CUSA16723_00 for BIOHAZARD RE:3 Z. While the last image shows two different CUSA’s, one for America (CUSA14123_00) and the other for Europe (CUSA14168_00). Meaning Japan is going to get some sort of special edition.
These covers also show off the new designs for the characters. Similar to the cast of Resident Evil 2 saw several design changes, so will the cast of Resident Evil 3. So far we’re able to see the redesign for Jill Valentine, who now heavily favors actress Natalie Portman, Carlos Oliveira, and the baddie himself, Nemesis.
The nice about this is we don’t have to go crazy trying to confirm if this is legit. Why? Because the images are hosted on PlayStation CDN’s, which unless something decided to have a little fun, is legit.
We can’t say for sure if this is a leak or marketing genius, but either way, it has us hyped up for Resident Evil 3 Remake. Not that we already weren’t. The only thing I’m sure of is that Capcom is likely pissed about this. Why? There hasn’t been a single official confirmation that development has started on the game. Sure, a bunch of rumors and other outlets saying that it has, but nothing from Capcom.
As for when we can expect to see the game released, well that’s anyone’s guess. In all likelihood, we’ll hear or see something regarding the game during the 2019 Game Awards that takes place on December 12, 2019, at 8:30 PM ET / 5:30 PM PT. Or, seeing how this (leak) is by Sony, perhaps we’ll see something during an unannounced State of Play?
If Resident Evil 3 Remake is as good as the Resident Evil 2 Remake, it’s going to be a damned good 2020 or 2021.
