X019 is just around the corner, and it looks like this year is going to be even bigger than the last. Industry analyst Daniel “ZhugeEX” Ahmad tweeted that this year’s event will feature release date announcements for several games we heard about at E3 alongside entirely new reveals from studios like Rare and Obsidian.
XO19 is worth watching tomorrow if you’re a fan of Xbox Game Studios.
The event will have solid 2020 release dates for XGS games like Bleeding Edge, Minecraft Dungeons and Wasteland 3. New IP from Obsidian and Rare. A shadow drop. Plus much more. pic.twitter.com/7n26jSrrKQ

When we last reported on X019, we stated that it would feature 12 games from Xbox Games Studios and tons of Xbox Game Pass news. Now we have what looks to be some concrete information as to what we’ll see during tomorrow’s show. Ahmad says in his tweet that we’ll see 2020 release dates for games like Minecraft Dungeons (which is already slated for early 2020), Bleeding Edge, and Wasteland 3. The latter two will be the first games Ninja Theory and inXile release under the Xbox Games Studios banner, and it looks like those will be the two big titles Microsoft will be pushing early next year.
Of course, those are games we know about already, and the most exciting part of these shows is finding out about brand new games. It seems like X019 won’t disappoint on that front, either. Both Obsidian and Rare are bringing their own new IPs if Ahmad is to be believed. Obsidian is hot off the release of The Outer Worlds, but we won’t be seeing a sequel to that game anytime soon considering they’re reportedly announcing a new IP.
As for Rare, well, they’ve been mostly quiet for the past few years outside of Sea of Thieves. Ever since the studio was acquired by Microsoft, many believe it hasn’t lived up to its full potential. Sea of Thieves made a splash for some, but it hasn’t blown up in the way Microsoft wanted it to. Hopefully Rare’s new project drums up some excitement. Microsoft needs a winner next year.
According to Ahmad, Microsoft has been heavily investing in its newly acquired studios as well as services like Xbox Game Pass. Even though Xbox Scarlett is only a year away, there are still about half a dozen Xbox Games Studios titles planned for launch in 2020 before next-gen arrives. Some of these we already know about, like the highly-anticipated Ori and the Will of the Wisps, but maybe we’ll see these new IPs in the spring or summer if we’re lucky.
Xbox Game Pass will be a huge focus for X019 just like it was last year. X018 saw numerous heavy-hitting titles join the Game Pass library like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice, and X019 won’t be any different. Due to a mishap on the Xbox Store, we have pretty strong evidence that Rage 2 will be available on Xbox Game Pass very soon. We liked Rage 2 when it launched back in May, and you can check out our review of the game here.
X019 will also feature big Project xCloud news, although Microsoft has been tight-lipped as to what they’re going to show. X019 will be streamed live tomorrow, November 14, at 12 PM PT on the official Xbox Mixer channel. If you can’t catch the show live, then stay tuned to The Outerhaven for all the exciting news and annoucements.
