Link’s Awakening Remake Sells Big In Europe Over First Three Days

By Todd BlackOctober 5, 2019
Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening

Nintendo has been on a big roll in terms of its 1st party titles this year. And one of the big ones that fans were eagerly waiting for was The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening. Which is a remake of the classic Game Boy title. While definitive numbers have not been released as of yet in terms of total sales for the first week or so, we are getting bits of information.

For example, Link’s Awakening is the fastest-selling title in Europe so far this year in terms of the Switch. Which means it beat out Super Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses and more. In terms of numbers, Nintendo PR has confirmed that 430,000 units were sold in the first three days. Add that to the 150,000 sold in Japan in its first week and that’s a guaranteed 600,000 units in sales.

As for the United States, Nintendo has been mum about that as usual. However, certain sources on Twitter have said that the game has sold better than Super Mario Maker 2 in the states, which had over 2 million in sales in its first week.

Even if it doesn’t keep up with Super Mario Maker 2, it’s VERY likely that it sold over 400,000 units in its first week, making this yet another million-seller for Nintendo. The sales numbers for the recent quarter (July-September) should be released by the end of October.

Stay tuned for our review of Link’s Awakening coming next week!
