The Promised Neverland Receives Live-Action Movie

By Josh PiedraSeptember 26, 2019
digital manga

It was announced via Twitter that Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu’s The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland) will be receiving a live-action movie adaptation. The film is slated to open in Japan in Winter 2020.

Some details about the film have been released. One of the differences in the story is that orphans will be shipped from Grace Field House at the age of 16, rather than the original age of 12 in the manga. This is probably to avoid any backlash of depicting violence towards minors.

The film is slated to star Minami Hamabe as Emma, Jyo Kairi as Ray, and Rihito Itagaki as Norman. The film is being directed by Yuichiro Hirakawa who directed the live-action ERASED film previously. Jyo Kairi also starred in ERASED. Minami Hamabe previously starred in the live-action AnoHana movie as Menma.
