When you think of Yacht Club Games, you no doubt think about the massive sensation that was Shovel Knight and its spinoffs. The game was born on Kickstarter, came to the Wii U to start and did really well, then made it’s way to several other platforms. In total, the game has sold 2.65 million units. And that’s just the main game, not all the spinoffs.
However, when it comes to consoles they prefer to be on? That would apparently be the Nintendo Switch. While the Wii U was where they got their start, Yacht Club COO James Chan says that the Switch has been extremely kind to them, and that they will focus on bringing their games to the Switch in the future:
“It was so early that we benefited from people having nothing else to buy. We were lucky then, but we do still see that the Switch is a really good platform for us. It’s where gamers that speak our language are. It’s definitely going to be our main focus.”
The next main new game for Yacht Club Games that isn’t Shovel Knight focused is the upcoming Cyber Shadow. Which will indeed come to Switch, as well as the continuation of the Shovel Knight series via Shovel Knight Dig.
