‘The Craft’ Reboot Casts its Coven

By Sara Roncero-MenendezSeptember 21, 2019

As far as bad cult classics go, 1996’s The Craft is iconic in its balls-to-the-wall badness. So when a remake of the film was announced, the big question was who was going to fill the shoes of the main cast. Well, as the witching season approaches, we know have an answer!

The main four witches will be played by Cailee Spaeny, from Bad Times at the El Royale, Gideon Adlon from The Society, Lovie Simone of Greenleaf, and Zoey Luna from Pose. The exact roles within the group have not been announced, so no one knows who will be the new and who will be the crazy one. The reboot will be written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, with original film’s director Andrew Fleming on as an executive producer.

If you haven’t seen the original, it follows a young witch who moves to a new town and joins a coven. However, after they invoke a powerful entity, their leader goes mad and tries to kill the new girl. I definitely recommend watching it because it is as 1990s as it get while also being a total train wreck.

Currently, there is no release date for The Craft reboot.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
