Previously, EA had announced that a new Need for Speed title was coming.
Except we haven’t seen or heard anything about the game since then and it didn’t make an appearance during EA’s E3 2019 conference. That all will change in about to days, as a timer has appeared on all of the Need For Speed websites.
This timer has been steadily counting down and it looks like in two days, we’ll finally know more about the next game in the series on August 14, 2019. Hopefully, we’re getting back to what made the series so enjoyable and away from those outrageous stories. Just give us some great racing, lots of customization options, a mixture of street and race tracks and I’ll be happy.
As for who’s handling the development of this next NFS game, that would be Ghost Games yet again. The same studio that worked on Need for Speed Rivals, Need for Speed (reboot) and Need for Speed: Payback. In the eyes of the fans of this series, so far Ghost hasn’t produced a hit title. Hopefully, this next game changes all that.
More importantly, the series will celebrate its 25th year and EA plans on doing something remarkable for it. Back in May, EA stated “Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events. The game matters most – a sentiment we bet you share with us”. However, more than a few promises across several of their previous games, I’m not holding my breath.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens on August 14, 2019.
