Just last week, Gearbox Software had teased about some sort of event or announcement for Borderlands 3 that was going to take place on July 16th. Well, that happens to be today and it didn’t end up being what we figured it would be.
While some figured it would be a live stream, which others assumed this would be an announcement regarding cross-play. In the end, it wasn’t any of that. Instead, we were treated to a new trailer that showed off the playable heroes of Borderlands 3 happily killing off their foes. While everyone else seemed to be in this happy go lucky trance, all while The Turtles “Happy Together” played in the backdrop. Yep, this was not what I thought it would be. There’s going to be a number of people waking up early to see this and I’m sure they aren’t going to be thrilled.
I’m pretty sure the message here is that we all need to be playing with friends, to better enjoy the game. Which I’m sure many of us already knew. As for cross-play, that isn’t completely ruled out. While Gearbox Software wants it in the game, it won’t be present during the launch of Borderlands 3. They are, however, looking into it as per a not so recent interview with Gamespot.
Oh, and guns. Lots and lots of shooting, walking, exploding, and joyful guns everywhere. They had me at the gun’s part.
