With E3 2019 right around the corner, I’m looking forward to seeing all the upcoming announcements y. As such, I decided to put together a list of things that I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing more information about. Mind you, this is merely my list and I’m sure my teammates here will likely have a different set of items that I do.
That said, let’s get to what I’m looking forward at E3 2019.
DOOM Eternal
I’ve been looking forward to a sequel to the 2016 smash hit ever since the ending credits rolled. Sure, the story in DOOM 2016 wasn’t the best, but the action was freaking amazing and I wanted more. Thankfully, Bethesda announced DOOM Eternal, which follows the original DOOM II: Hell on Earth from id Software. And while we got small looks here and there, I’m hoping we’ll finally see Bethesda showing us pretty much everything. I love DOOM and I need this in my life, ASAP.
Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers
As a long time Marvel Comics reader, anything with my favorite superheroes in it is a must play. Ever since Square Enix mentioned the Avengers Project, I’ve been trying to uncover as much information as I could. Which hasn’t been much as the game has been a closely guarded by Omega Sentinels. However, once E3 2019 gets started we’re going to get a better look at the game. Hopefully even some gameplay.
Gears of War 5
Ever since Gears of War 5 was announced last year, I could stop thinking about it. Not only has the main character switched up with players taking control of Kait Diaz. But we’re going to find out how her family ended up being connected with the Locust. Basically, is Myrrah the former Queen of the Locust, actually Kait’s grandmother. And if so, what does that mean for the current status of the game? Yes, I’m a sucker for a good story and this one looks to be a return to what made Gear of War so good. Well, that and some amazing gameplay. Hopefully, we’ll get a release date as well.
The Microsoft E3 2019 Briefing
I know that’s a bit broad, but I’m just being honest. There’s also so much stuff that I want to know about. The 14 first-party games, Project xCloud, the next-generation Xbox consoles. A possible new Xbox One Elite controller (maybe) and their renewed PC gaming push. So yeah, the entire briefing and I’m sorry if you consider this cheating.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
How can you not get excited for a single-player campaign from the same team that gave us Titanfall 2? With Respawn at the helm of this next-generation Star Wars game, I have zero doubt that this game won’t be anything but pure bliss. Lightsaber battles, force powers, a new planet, and more Star Wars lore. We haven’t had a decent Star Wars title in quite some time, so I’m definitely looking forward to this. Please don’t disappoint us, Respawn.
Whatever Fromsoftware is working on
Going into E3 2019, there are a few things I’m looking forward to from Fromsoftware. The rumored title that is being worked on in conjunction with George R.R. Martin. Something about medieval times, knights, open world and horseback riding? Honestly, I don’t know what to make of it but if Fromsoftware is attached, I’m in. There there’s the hope that we’ll find out if Sekiro does get some DLC that continues the story. Or a brand new title in the Sekiro series. Either one will work. There there’s the possible Armored Core reboot that they were also supposedly working on. A series that fans have been asking about for years, and one that Fromsoftware stated they wanted to get back to. We know they’re working on something and hopefully, we’ll find out what it is during E3 2019.
Streets of Rage 4
Sure, it’s not a huge AAA title and that’s fine. What it is, however, is the return of a beloved beat ’em up series and I’ve been keeping an eye on this. It’s shaping up to be a worthy follow-up and everything I’ve seen during Bitsummit 2019 has been very excited. Can’t wait to see what else gets shown or announced for the title at E3 2019. Like a release date and which platforms it will be available on. Finally finding out if Yuzo Koshiro is doing the soundtrack or not would also be nice.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Huge fan of Monster Hunter World and I’ve been bouncing off the ceiling ever since Iceborne was announced. And while we’ve seen quite a bit of content from the expansion, I’m still waiting for two words to be uttered; Cross-play and Cross-save. Ok, that’s four words but you get what I mean. With Destiny 2 and Dauntless being the latest titles to follow the trend, I’m hoping Capcom follows suit.
That surprise title that wows everyone
There’s more to E3 than just big names. Every once in a while there’s a game or product that comes out of nowhere and surprises everyone. I’m looking forward to seeing where it comes from this year. It could be a game, an accessory that we suddenly never knew how we lived without it or even a new console. Whatever it is, I hope it gets the coverage it deserves.
Of course, there’s so much more. However, these are the things I’m looking forward to the most. Sure, I could swap out any title for another one at any time. But for now, I’m sticking to this list. What about you? Is there something you’re looking forward to during E3 2019? We’d love to know in the comments.
