A few days ago it was made aware that Bethesda attempted to pull a fast one over those who purchased Rage 2 on Steam. Where the Bethesda launcher version didn’t include the pesty and performance robbing anti-temper software, Denuvo, the Steam version did. In fact, it wasn’t even mentioned that Denuvo was going to be included until after the game was released. Which was pretty sneaking in my book.
This, of course, led to countless frustrated gamers feeling like they were being punished for picking up the Steam version. With others claiming that Denuvo was causing lower frame rates, which it is guilty of doing. So now Bethesda is putting an end to that. In a recent update, not only is Bethesda and Avalanche Studios correcting several issues with the game. They’re also removing Denuvo from the Steam version. Reason being? Well, they must have seen those frustrated gamers complaining and rightfully so.
- Removes Denuvo DRM (We saw a few requests.)
- Enables Crash Reporter for error reporting
- Fixes occasional crash related to Scaleform
- Fixes occasional crash on startup
- Fixes issue where Bethesda.net users would always default to English
- Razer Chroma effects enabled by default
Who said that by voicing your frustration that you can’t get anything accomplished? Whoever it was, it definitely wasn’t me and I for one am glad to see Denuvo removed. Not that it did any good in the first place, as Rage 2 was cracked the same day it was released.
