There’s been a lot of Star Wars news coming out of Star Wars Celebration, including the title reveal and first trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the unveiling of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but one more exciting piece of news seems to have slipped through the cracks before Star Wars Celebration comes to a close: there’s a new Lego Star Wars game in the works.
Matt Wood of Skywalker Sound, the team in charge of the sound effects of the Star Wars films, mentioned an unannounced Lego Star Wars project in a list of things launching in 2019. You can check out the clip below.

Warner Bros., the publisher behind the Lego games, hasn’t said anything about a Lego Star Wars game, but the kind folks over at Eurogamer were able to shed a little light on the project. Eurogamer has heard about the title from “sources close to its production.” They called it “an ambitious project” and for good reason.
This new Lego Star Wars project will not simply be an adaptation of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, but a retelling of “the entire story of the saga.” Eurogamer has heard it described as the “ultimate” Lego Star Wars game.
Both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy have both been done in the Lego universe already, along with the animated Clone Wars series and The Force Awakens. Episodes VIII and IX are notably absent from the Lego lineup.
This wouldn’t be the first time the entire Star Wars saga has been retold in brick form. 2007’s Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga told, you guessed it, the complete saga from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi, combining the first two Lego Star Wars games into one cohesive package. Of course, Star Wars has grown considerably over the last decade, and they’d have to fit a whole other trilogy in there to tell the entire tale, even more if they’re planning on including Solo or Rogue One.
Regardless, the idea of a new Lego Star Wars has ten year old me very excited. It was mentioned alongside things scheduled for 2019, so expect to see an announcement sometime this year.
