Streaming service Disney+ continues to grow its programming ahead of its premiere, wanting to entice fans to subscribe with cool and exclusive content. Their latest addition, a mini-series called Hawkeye is looking to do just that by bringing the archer to the small screen and promising to bring in a long-awaited character.
Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the movies, will be reprising his role as Clint Barton, the original bearer of the title. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will act as a jumping-off point for Barton to hand off the mantle to Kate Bishop, his protégé. There’s no casting news for Kate, but the character will likely be based on the version from the popular Matt Fraction and Alex Aja comic.
Disney+ has two other Marvel projects, albeit unscripted one. The first is under the working title Marvel’s 616, which will be an anthological docu-series set at the intersection of the comic giant’s stories, characters and creators and everyday people. The other is Marvel’s Hero Project, which explores the positive change several young heroes are making in their communities.
This is all on top of the Scarlet Witch and Vision show and the Winter Soldier and Falcon show, as well as the Loki series. And yes, all the original actors will be back for those projects. However, at the time of writing, there is no set date for any of these shows to premiere.
