There’s no doubt that Activision and Fromsoftware have a hit on their hands with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
It’s easily one of my favorite games of 2019 (and we just started), it has satisfied my cravings for now. Besides, I’ve done pretty much everything. Beaten every boss, got the best ending and I have little desire to replay the game. I’ve even started an NG run but stopped. Perhaps I spoiled myself.
Still, I can’t help but wonder what we’re going to see in the eventual DLC that is planned. C’mon, don’t sit there and act like we won’t see a DLC. It’s almost like it’s written in the stars and no it’s not too damned early.
Given that the game has pretty much wrapped up everything in a nice and neat bow, those that finished the game with the best ending know there’s more to come. Spoilers, if you haven’t see the “Return” ending, Sekiro and the Child of Rejuvenation leave and head West. Given that we likely won’t see a Sekiro 2 anytime soon, whatever DLC we’ll see will have to do. That all said, what exactly would we ask to see in the DLC?
Well, I have some ideas of my own.
No more prosthetic weapons
It’s safe to say that Sekiro already has a full arsenal of weapons to choose from. Several of which I’m sure many of you either didn’t hunt down or didn’t even use. That said, I’m pretty sure that Sekiro has enough tricks up his sleeve, er, arm that we shouldn’t need any new weapons. Still, if Fromsoftware sees fit to add more, I hope it’s something that we wouldn’t dream of in a million years.
More emphasis on exploration
What the things I loved about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was the exploration aspect. Sure, we had a job to do but we still have plenty to do if we strayed off the beaten path. The crow vendors, hidden treasure chests, even a few out of the way boss fights such as the Headless Ape and the Demon of Hatred. Hopefully, we’ll get more places where we can swing to our heart’s content with the grappling hook. I never could get enough of that.
More Demons
Seriously, for the game being set in the Sengoku era, there simply wasn’t enough demons. As such, I’d love if Fromsoftware took a page from the Sengoku BASARA or even Nioh and toss in more demons. Yeah, we had the headless fights, but I’m talking about regular demon encounters, not just bosses. Maybe even a spooky haunted village where still is so crazy that we’d fall in love with it. Yes, just like the Mibu Village, but more!
Storyline continuation
As I mentioned before, the “Return” ending sheds some light a possible DLC. In that ending, the Child of Rejuvenation tells Sekiro “Let’s us depart to the West, To the birthplace of the Divine Dragon….”. Of course, not before she takes our pal, Kuro, and absorbs him as she is now a “vessel” (or sends him in his way to the Divine Realm). Returning West, we just don’t know where exactly West is. Which is exactly why I’d want to see a continuation of the storyline and now having to wait for a proper sequel.
More amazing boss battles
This goes without saying, but the mid-boss and final boss fights in Sekiro were top tier encounters. Each boss, with the exception of the Mist Noble (was that even really a boss?), were amazing. Causing me to curse my controller and even nearly toss it around my room a few times. Thankfully I didn’t, controllers are expensive. I want more of this and I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s in this boat. Ok, maybe I can do without another Isshin, The Sword Saint-like encounter. Fuck that guy, seriously.
Well, that’s it for now. I’m sure I’ll think of more stuff I want to see in the eventual Sekiro: Shadows Die twice DLC. What about you? Anything you can think of, or want to see? Let us know in the comments.
