There are some stories that you never want to see end, and for many fans, Supernatural is one of them. But alas, all good things must come to an end and lead actors Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins announced that Season 15 would be their last.
Supernatural is a show about two brothers, Dean and Sam Winchester, who cross the country and fight off all kinds of supernatural monsters that prey on innocent people. However, between angels, demons, vampires, prophets, and more, the lives of the brothers gets more and more complicated. It is their bond as brothers that keeps them together through the changing tides and the forces that rise against them.
The show debuted back in 2005, and once Season 15 is over, will have 320 episodes under its belt. In the video, Ackles says, “We just told the crew that even though we’re very excited to be moving into our 15th season, it will be our last. 15 years of a show that has certainly changed my life, I know it’s changed these two guys’ lives, and we just wanted you to here from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale.”
“We’ve cried some tears and we’ll cry some more, but we’re grateful and we’re going to work all that emotion into next season,” adds Padalecki in the emotional video.
Supernatural is the third of the CW’s popular shows that will be ending in the near future, with Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend also finishing up in their current/upcoming seasons. But Supernatural more so than anything marks the end of an era, with so many fans tuning in to see the adventures of the Winchesters against the forces of darkness, helping to transition the CW from traditional teen dramas to darker and more daring fare.
No word yet at to when Season 15 will premiere on the CW, but Season 14 is currently airing.
