The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come a long way, celebrating ten years back in 2018. The new trailer for the highly anticipated Avengers: Endgame gives us a look back at the road before, but also gives us brand new sneak peeks at what’s to come:
Boy is there a lot to unpack in here. We see the pasts of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Hawkeye, comparing their former world to the one post-Snap. But there’s a lot of new in there too. We see that Black Widow (back to her signature red) is reconnecting with Clint, Ant Man walking around looking at the massive amount of missing posters in total confusion, Rocket hitching a ride on War Machine, and everyone preparing for battle.
We also see Captain Marvel right at the very end, when Thor tries to make her flinch as he summons his new axe. However, the air-force-pilot-turned-intergalatic-warrior is too badass to be phased and Thor like. I wish we had gotten a little more of her integration into the trailer, since most fans have been excited for her to show up finally and even the odds.
I’ve got to say that the strangest moment of the trailer for me is when we see the Avengers on Earth all wearing a red-and-white Avengers uniform which…is a choice, I guess. But we do see Tony and Nebula as a part of the group so, good news! Tony makes it out of space alive somehow.
Perhaps the biggest question is, however, what’s going to happen after the endgame. Sure, we’re all pretty secure in the knowledge that many of our favorites are coming back (otherwise Spider-Man: Homecoming and Black Panther 2 are going to be really confusing) but what will the world look like after? How will other characters deal with the death(s?) of major characters that are definitely going to happen? Also is the Ant-Man stuck-in-time theory true or has Marvel been trolling us on our obsession with ever single trailer? All will be answered soon.
Avengers: Endgame premieres in theaters on April 26, 2019.
