Nintendo blew up the internet last Thursday during The Game Awards when it revealed that the first DLC character for Super Smash Bros Ultimate was going to be Joker from Persona 5. The game was one of the most popular titles in 2017, and won many awards. But, it had never been on Nintendo Switch, making many wonder why Joker was going to be in Smash Bros Ultimate. Unless…the game was GOING to be coming to Switch.
Granted, the whole world is thinking that this will happen, but neither Nintendo, Atlus, or Sega is commenting on such a thing. HOWEVER, Nintendo Soup is reporting that a person named Mystic Distance (who is a writer for various sites, including many focusing on Persona) has gotten “sources” telling them that Persona 5 is indeed on the way to Switch, and will arrive in 2019 for the system.
Furthermore, the game will either be released, or announced for Switch, when Joker is brought into Smash Bros Ultimate, making it a type of “dual deal” if you will. But according to Mystic Distance, this won’t be a standard port, for it’ll “contain adjustments to the game, additional aspects to the scenario” and “other wanted additions.”
Very interesting. Now again, this is a RUMOR, but it’s something that could indeed happen, and if Persona 5 does come to Nintendo Switch alongside Joker, that’ll be yet another big win for Nintendo in terms of 3rd party games.
