WWE 2K19 is a little over one week away, and the team at 2K Sports dropped a new dev blog about WWE 2K19‘s Universe Mode, which is sure to please content creators, as well as general players, who delve into Universe Mode year after year.
WWE Universe Mode debuted in WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2011, and while the mode has made incremental improvements throughout the years – WWE 2K17 and WWE 2K18 having made more significant improvements to the mode – the changes in WWE 2K19 are quite substantial this year, especially the first we’ll be talking about: deciding the winners and losers of the match!

This year, WWE 2K19’s Universe Mode has the option for players to decide the winners and losers of matches without even playing the matches themselves or randomizing the results by simulating. This helps immensely for people who create Universe exclusive content, such as eFeds and just general story crafting. This definitely revolutionizes the game in ways unimaginable as the possibilities are now endless when it comes to crafting your Universe. Want to re-create memories? What about creating some new ones? Maybe you want to prove that you can book better than the WWE Creative team? You can do it in spades this year. Personally, I cannot wait to see what this mode inspires going forward.
The championship system in Universe has been expanded from four titles to six, with Money in the Bank being a valid championship, capable of taking up two of the six slots, one for the men and one for the ladies. You can even add multiple women’s or tag titles to your shows, create specific championship divisions – a call back to WWE SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role – as well as giving fan favorite Vacant more championship reigns (or hold the title in abeyance, if that’s your bag.)
Superstar Save Profiles are also new here, letting players save changes across MyWWE and multiple Universe saves at the same time, whether it be attributes, skills, move sets, entrances or Payback loadouts. You can even set the frequency of match types in storylines/rivalries and customize the types of matches used on each show and Pay-Per-View using the new Custom Match Tables system.
Promos also have been slightly improved, by taking recent events into account when a superstar is cutting a promo. Lost a championship? That superstar’s next promo will take that into account and invoke their rematch clause. Rivals will talk about recent wins, losses and other events that happen, such as interferences or blindsides that happened the week before. Promo Attitudes, which every superstar will have pre-set, can be changed at will. This changes the game since you can change the attitude of a specific superstar if you turn them heel or face in your Universe.
Last – but definitely not least – Managers are now assignable to your superstars and you can assign up to three different managers, who will accompany the superstar in One on One and normal Tag Matches. Want to have R-Truth pin come out ringside with Carmella? You can do it. The Miz will be accompanied by the other Carmella Maryse if you will it, and the New Day or Riott Squad…well, you get the idea. Whatever you do, just make sure the “23-year-old Piece of Gold” Lio Rush comes out with Bobby Lashley. For the love of god, please let this happen in your Universes.
