Bayonetta as a franchise is a very interesting one. Born on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and developed by legendary studio Platinum Games, the original title did very well, selling over a million units. Yet, neither Microsoft nor Sony was wanting to pick up the sequel, and thus entered Nintendo. Who not only got the game and its sequel, it was an exclusive (at the time) to their console the Wii U. And while sales weren’t as big as the original, the game did get numerous Game of the Year awards. Then, at The Game Awards last year, Nintendo announced that Bayonetta 3 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
However, ever since then, we’ve had virtually no word on Bayonetta 3. That’s 9 months of pretty much silence. So much silence might lead you to think that the game is in trouble, but according to Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba, that couldn’t be further from the truth. At a show in Japan, the two talked to a crowd of fans and noted that the game is “on track”, and then went on to note:
“It’s nice to be able to tell you that everything is going very, very well. We’re all very excited about what we’re doing on that game.”
More than likely, this will be a big title in 2019, which is already stacked due to numerous 1st party announcements from Nintendo. But only time will tell when the game is fully released.
