Supergiant Games’ first two games, Bastion and Transistor, were met with love and adoration from audiences when they first released. Now, these incredible new stories will be able to reach even more people, because they’re coming out on the Nintendo Switch.
Bastion is an action-RPG that takes place after an apocalypse. Players adventure through a story that is built around them as they play, represented even by the scenery, which rises up, tile by tile, to meet them. Every action they take is narrated by an all-seeing voice, unseen, and woven into the fabric of their narrative. Bastion was Supergiant’s first game, and has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. It’s received several awards and accolades for excellence in all fields.
Transistor, on the other hand, is built around a more concrete story. It’s also an action-RPG, with a sort of cyberpunk aesthetic, drawing influence from computers and technology, as its name might suggest. The main character wields a huge, technological broadsword that has the ability to absorb consciousnesses, and from them, glean new abilities. Like Bastion, Transistor was a huge success, receiving several awards and selling fast.
These enchanting stories will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this fall. Bastion will be available first, at $14.99, starting September 13th, 2018. Transistor will follow, priced at $19.99, on November 1st, 2018. Supergiant says they currently do not have plans to bring Pyre, their third title, to Nintendo Switch, but they are not ruling it out as a future possibility.
