There’s no denying that Michael Myers, the grandfather of the slasher genre, is one of the scariest horror movie monsters of the modern era. And it’s not because of any supernatural powers, or especially creepy visuals – it’s actually the opposite. Myers disturbs us because we don’t get any information from him. Hiding his face behind a mask, never speaking a word, he moves soundlessly and emotionlessly through our lives, carrying out his murderous mission.
So what can we say about Myers and the Real? Well, a lot more than you’d think. In fact, of all the antagonists we’ll explore this season, he might be the closest one to being the Real.
Tune in next time when I breakdown fictional characters and talk about what’s going on inside that brain of theirs. What makes us so scared of what goes bump in the night? Find out on this season of The Cine-Analyst!
