I don’t think I was ready for this
Now that Gamescom 2018 has officially kicked off. Gamers such as myself are now able to get a look at some of the amazing titles that are on display. This means that we’re finally getting some footage of Fromsoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and all I can say is OMG.
The latest game from the house that made Dark Souls, has taken the gameplay back from the sword and board combat. Now we play as a Ninja who is able to leap and take advantage of verticality gameplay. In fact, it reminds me more of an older Fromsoftware title, Otogi. A hack and slash title that debut on the Xbox and one that I couldn’t put down. I was saddened when we really didn’t see a more recent follow-up on newer hardware. Only except now, Sekiro looks to follow in that games (and the sequel) footsteps.
Not only does the protagonist’s arm have some handy features, but there’s also the ability to jump. Which is useful not only in combat but from moving around the levels. There’s also some weapon buffs (think resins), and few other tidbits you’ll find out by watching the gameplay segment. I also really like the art design that the game has going. Even if it does scream Dark Souls, in the back of my mind.
I’m just going to shut up now and let you watch the footage that IGN captured, below. This is also footage from the Xbox One X version.
Stunning, simply stunning. Needless to say, this game is going to be an instant buy for me. I’ve already put the time request at work so I can be off and enjoy my sweet time with this. As for a release date, it was already announced that this will be out on March 22, 2019. Around the same time as Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5.
Oh, it’s going to be a good time for gamers, indeed.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC/Windows.
