Hey, look everyone! Broly’s back!
When Dragon Ball Super’s run ended, we were informed that will the TV series was over but a new movie was being worked on. Shortly after we were shown a short trailer that included Son-Goku, getting ready to square off against someone. Someone who had this weird green-ish aura and appeared to bulk up as he powered up. And then someone went “hey, is that… is that Broly?”.
Well, now we know that it is indeed Broly. He’s back! However, this Broly won’t be the mindless savage that he’s usually depicted as. According to Akira Toriyama, he’s reworked the character and has given him a different personality. In the three movies that Broly has shown in, four if you count the Team Four Star Parody, the character one wants one thing. To kill Son-Goku, effectively known as Kararot. All because he kept him up constantly with his crying when he was a little tike. Man, Broly sure has a one-track mind.
Oh, the name of the movie has also been confirmed. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is now the new name.
So there you have it. Broly will be the next bad guy to appear in the Dragon Ball Super Movie. Of course, it won’t be just Goku going up against what the nearly unstoppable legendary Super Saiyan. Vegeta is going to be on-hand, as shown in the poster below. But I’m also willing to bet that we’ll see the rest of the Z… er, Super cast joining in. Hell, I’d love to see some of the Universe 6 characters such as Cabba, Kale, and Caulifla joining in as well.
The interesting part is seeing how Goku’s and Vegeta’s new SSBSS powers match up against Broly. I mean, he’s supposed to be the strongest there is, right? But we’ve seen Jiren, we’ve seen Ultra Instinct Goku and we’ve seen a super powerful fused Kefla. What can this newly revamped Broly show us that we haven’t seen? We’ll just have to wait and see.
As for the elephant in the room; aka “Is Broly canon”. It would seem that Toriyama is determined to make it a reality.
Dragon Ball Super: Broly is set to be released on Dec. 14, this year. It will make its way into theater first, but we have no idea when it will hit Bluray and DVD.
