What happens when an up and coming Indie game studio acquires another up and coming Indie game studio? In this case, something magical. Thunderful, an Indie studio based out of Sweden, has acquired Rising Star Games.
The Thunderful Group, which encompasses development studios Image & Form and Zoink Games as well as Thunderful Publishing, is pleased to announce that it has acquired publisher Rising Star Games with offices in the UK and US. The new managing director for Rising Star Games will be Ed Valiente, who is also the managing director of Thunderful Publishing.
Ed Valiente’s name should be familiar to many of you. He previously worked at Nintendo of Europen for many years. Outside of that, he had a few stints at Square Enix, Bandai Namco, Sony and, Microsoft. The man has been around and he knows the business and he knows his stuff.
This acquisition will give Thunderful access into territories that they haven’t reached into previously. Since Rising Star Games has offices in North America. In addition, I know that RSG has been busting their behinds to push some amazing Indie titles, as well as unknown/lesser known gems from Japan these past few years. Games such as Assault Suit Leynos, Earth’s Dawn, Lumo and Rise & Shine.
Hopefully, this acquisition will mean that even more goodies will find their way into our homes. Congrats to both companies on the deal and I’ll definitely be looking forward to what comes out of this.
