Sure, Koei-Tecmo only recently announced Dead or Alive 6 for PC and consoles. But this is E3 2018 time, meaning that we were sure that we’d get more images, impressions and of course, footage of the game in action. And we were right.
Here’s a few minutes of Dead or Alive 6 in action, courtesy of IGN. Here we see familiar DOA characters mix it up, and I have to say that it’s looking good. It also looks like, that Team Ninja is putting more focus on the fighting and moving away from the jiggle physics. Let’s just hope the destructible and interactive backgrounds make a return, and the roster is full of fan favorite DOA characters and others from other fighting games.
With the return of the series, comes a new game engine. While Team Ninja is being tight-lipped about what this new engine can do, it’s nice to see that the older engine, soft engine, has been retired. As many fans know, that game engine was created to focus on other aspects of the game, such as the jiggle physics that Dead or Alive was known for. The new engine will allow for realistic textures, such as dirt and sweat appearing on the characters.
Dead or Alive 6 releases in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version isn’t completely out of the picture as Team Ninja states that if they can get around the technical issues then it could be a possibility.
