University of California, Irvine vs University of Ottawa; University of Western Ontario vs University of Maryland
Day 2 continues of the 2018 League of Legends College Championships. The second half of the top eight teams face off against each other continuing the bracket format. Games are a best of three format. The following teams were eliminated during day one:
Seed 1 – Maryville University (Eliminated by Seed 8 – University of Illinois)
Seed 4 – University of Texas, Dallas (Eliminated by Seed 5 – Columbia College)
Game 1
Game one began at 6:00 pm EST. This pitched second seed University of California, Irvine against the seventh seed University of Ottawa. UC Irvine are well known as being a strong contender and even have their own Esports program and give scholarships to players looking to represent their team. UC Irvine displayed a great showing as the dominated University of Ottawa in two straight games. After the game University of California Irvine’s bot-laner James “Lattman” Lattman had this to say:
Towards the beginning of the season we had to switch top-laners to ‘Cpt Nuke’ due to some unforeseen circumstance but ‘Cpt Nuke’ has really stepped up to the plate in a big way and were just as confident with him moving forward.

No surprises that this outcome was achieved due to UC Irvine having three players that have played professionally in the past. The players are mid-laner Jung “Youngbin” Young-bin, support Lyubomir “BloodWater” Spasov, and bot-laner James “Lattman” Lattman.
Lattman even achieved a Pentakill during the game, getting the killing blow on all five enemy team members.
Game 2
The second game pitched third seed University of Western Ontario against sixth seed University of Maryland. Going back to the trend of upsets University of Maryland would take down University of Western Ontario in the only series to go three games. Western University would put up a dominating performance in game one, but University of Maryland would rally back to win two consecutive games. After the game University of Maryland’s top-laner “Yang” had this to say:
This year and this team, I think we didn’t do much different, but there was less pressure since we didn’t really practice at all. We didn’t expect much and I think since having no pressure we were able to play better.

Day 3 will feature a best of 5 format between University of Illinois vs Columbia College followed by University of California, Irvine and University of Maryland
