It was announced on Twitter that the Space Battleship Yamato 2202 anime film series will be receiving a television anime adaption! The anime is slated to begin airing during this year’s Fall anime season. While the TV anime’s story wasn’t detailed, it was noted that it will be an adaptation of the seven-part anime film series. Fans can assume that it will be the movies’ stories just told in TV anime format. Broken Blade did something similar back in 2014 where they aired a 12 episode TV anime which adapted and expanded on the six films in the series. It is quite possible that Space Battleship Yamato 2202 will get the same treatment.
Crunchyroll has been streaming the film series in Japanese with English subtitles while FUNimation has been streaming the English dub. Both services have been streaming the movies since May 9. The first film premiered in February 2017, the second in June 2017, the third in October 2017, the fourth back on January 27 and the fifth film is slated for a May 25 release later this month.
