While Deep Silver announced that Shenmue III was being delayed until 2019. They also came out and stated that another 2018 release title, Metro Exodus, is also being delayed. However, we have a release window for the later, being the first quarter of 2019.
There hasn’t been any mention about why the game is also being delayed. However, Deep Silver CEO Lars Wingefors has hinted that this simply could be due to the number of titles being released in 2018.
The forthcoming AAA title Metro Exodus, hosted by THQ Nordics game studio Deep Silver, is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2019. Earlier messages were launched in 2018.
‘In order to get the best return on our investments and continue to build values in our brands, I would like to emphasize again the importance of patience waiting to launch products until they meet the expected customer experience while it is important to choose the right timing for future launches, ‘writes CEO Lars Wingefors in the interim report.
Update: Metro Exodus developer, 4A Games, has chimed in and released a statement on the delay. In which they have expressed their regret for the delay, however, it was needed to make sure that Metro Exodus will be the best Metro title to date.
We want everyone to experience the most ambitious Metro game to date at its absolute best. Therefore we've moved the release date to Q1 2019
We know this will be disappointing news for fans, but at E3 we will be revealing lots of new gameplay from a never before seen environment

While the game is being delayed, it will still make an appearance at E3 2018. We’ll still be able to see some gameplay from the title, despite the delay.
Metro Exodus was first announced and shown off during the Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference. The title takes place several years after Metro: Last Light and will continue the story of Artyom and another character, Anna, who is now Artyom’s wife.
The title will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC when it is released in 2019.
