The Bluth family is back, and it looks like they’re coming back much sooner than expected.
A trailer recently dropped announcing the return of the Bluth family for season 5 of Arrested Development, showing the entire cast from the series reprising their roles as members of the dysfunctional family.

The trailer shows Lindsay Bluth running for congress, Buster with a new hand, and, apparently, everyone getting together for a family of the year award. There was no mention of Lucile 2, but hopefully the new episodes will shed some light on what happened to her last season.
The trailer is somewhat of a surprise. There were announcements last year that Netflix had renewed the series for a 5th season in 2018, but wasn’t given a release date. Now we do, and that date is May 29, only a few weeks away. This announcement came soon after we received a re-cut of the show’s weakest season.
Last week, creator Mitch Hurwitz released a remix of the notorious season 4 and titled it Fateful Consequences. It premiered on May 4 (“Cinco de Quattro” as the Bluth family calls it) and featured a re-cut of the original season 4’s 15 episode length, turning it into 22 shorter episodes.
The announcement of the remixed season came from an open letter written by Hurwitz on twitter. The letter also addressed when fans would expect to see a new season.
“Soon,” said Hurwitz. “Like real soon. Like, if you knew when, you would not be wrong to be thinking ‘why are we all just hearing this now?’”
He wasn’t kidding when he said soon.
Arrested Development was created by Mitch Hurwitz and stars Michael Cera, Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor, and Ron Howard as the narrator for the series.
