Teen Titans GO! the follow up to the very popular 2003 TV series Teen Titans, has met with a bit of backlash from the Teen Titans fan base due to the overly childish nature of the new show. But it seems that unlike it’s popular predecessor, which got a home video movie after the series ended, is set to get a full length feature film called Teen Titans GO! To The Movies. The first trailer for the movie has been released online moments ago and you can see it for yourself below.
Teen Titans GO! To The Movies is the first full length feature film based on a Warner Brothers cartoon series since Batman: Mask of the Phantasm over 25 years ago.
The premise of Teen Titans GO! To The Movies begins as a parody of all the super hero films that are being made out there. The Teen Titans, after Robin mistakes a movie about Alfred as being about him, approaches Warner Brothers studios about making a movie about the team, leading to them being laughed out of the building as no one in the studio thinks that they are actually a group of super heroes, but a bunch of sidekicks pretending to be heroic. After an encounter with more well known super heroes, Robin begins to wonder if they are actually a real team and if there is anyone out there who is going to take them seriously.
In an attempt to gain some more notoriety, they begin to track down Deathstroke (aka Slade Wilson) and turn him into their arch nemesis in order to fill a checklist of things that would make them into a real super hero team in the eyes other others. It just so happens that Deathstroke is in the middle of a plan to take over the minds of the people of the world with a mythical gemstone and the Teen Titans stop him.
From the trailer, the humor seems to be very self referential and takes aim at a lot of Super Hero mistakes like mistaking Deathstroke for Deadpool, leading to Deathstroke to mention that he is the one who came first and all that. Other jokes take aim at the DC Live Action movies such as Green Lantern not wanting to talk about his movie at all. It seems that just about anything goes in Teen Titans GO! To The Movies and looks to be one of those films that is going to entertain everyone from kids to adults to people who know a lot about the Teen Titans… And it looks a LOT better than the Live Action version that is in production at the moment.
Teen Titans GO! To The Movies will feature the voices of Scott Menville, Greg Cipes, Khary Payton, Tara Strong, Hynden Walch, Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, Nicolas Cage, Halsey, Lil Yachty and Jimmy Kimmel. It is slated for a theatrical release on July 27, 2018, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
