Stranger Things remains one of the most anticipated shows, in spite of it existing during one of the most media-rich landscapes. Nevertheless, every update fills us with excitement, so I’m here to share the good news: Stranger Things Season 3 has officially begun production!
That’s right, no need to hold your breath because the show is finally being made. And yes, the core cast is all present and accounted for, so no worries about your favorites not coming back. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like there have been any scheduling issues, given that so many of the stars have other projects they’re working on, like IT: Chapter 2 for Finn Wolfhard.
But, on top of that, now we have three new strangers making their way into the story: Maya Hawke, Jake Busey and Cary Elwes. Hawke plays Robin, a woman who comes dangerously close to the dark secrets of Hawkins; Busey plays a local reporter with some questionable morals, and the legendary Elwes plays Hawkins’ very own Mayor Kline, who is described as “a slick and sleazy politician.”
We got some more information on the importance of other characters. Erica, Lucas’s little sister who stole scenes and hearts in season 2, will have a more important role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Executive producer Shawn Levy says that season 3 will explore the romantic relationships between our two pre-teen couples: Mike and Eleven, and Lucas and Max. “But again, they’re like 13- or 14-year-old kids, so what does romance mean at that stage of life? It can never be simple and stable relationships and there’s fun to that instability.”
No word yet as to when season 3 will come out yet, but hopefully we’ll be getting that next set of episodes in 2019.
