I love Discord and how it enables various communities on the internet. It lets us type and talk to friends, family, and fans while we’re on the internet, doing what we love. Gaming, Creative, IRL, or whatever it is. And now, it’s making its way over to the Xbox One.
For those that are part of Xbox Insider, you’ll get a chance to check out Discord on the Xbox ahead of everyone else. Once the app is rolled us, all you’ll need to do is connect your discord account from your Xbox One.
Outside of the Xbox One, you’ll also be able to connect your account to your Xbox account on both the PC, iOS, and Android. While you’ll have to wait for the official release, those mentioned platforms will have an option to connect the accounts as well.
There’s no word on when Discord for Xbox One will be available for everyone. However, once Microsoft or Discord responds with an official date, we’ll update the article to reflect it.
I really didn’t expect to see Discord making its way over to any other platform. Well, outside of the PC and mobile devices. So this announcement is pretty exciting. Mainly for me as Discord is my preferred way of talking with my friends and viewers over at Mixer. Now if they’re an “Xbox Only” home, they’ll still be able to jump into my Discord channel and chat it up with me.
Now I’m wondering if and when this will come to the PlayStation 4. I’m sure gamers on Sony’s gaming console would love to have it on there as well. I know I sure do.
Do you use Discord? If so, how do you feel about it coming to the Xbox One? Let us know in the comments!
