Welcome to The Pull List, a weekly listing of comic books hitting shelves of Local Comic Book Shops all around the world this week. The week of March 14, 2018 is seeing some interesting books come along. So here are my top 5 recommendations for this week if you are looking for something to read. Personal note: I know there are some repeat recommendations from previous Pull List recommendations, but sometimes a series continues to do good and I like to point that out. I do try to get new things out more often than not, but some weeks do not leave much room for new recommendations.

This is going to be interesting because the once calm and cool “Awesome Hulk” Amadeus Cho is now giving way to his savage side and allowing The Hulk to run free after needing that side of himself to come out on the planet Sakaar to become The Worldbreaker once again and save the planet. Now we have a Hulk that has been mentally locked away unleashed on the Earth once again and who knows what insanity is going to come from it. I loved Planet Hulk the first time around as it showed what happened when Hulk hits peak pissed off while having a bunch of similar powered aliens to watch his back. We just need to hope that this version isn’t another Civil War II.

I’ll be honest here, I haven’t been the biggest supporter of Jason Aaron’s version of Thor. The whole story from the get go where Aaron used this female Not-Thor as a megaphone for his feminist views, to having the real Thor so willingly give his name, title, hammer and powers over to Not-Thor so easily, plus the way too predictable reveal that it was Jane Foster after all being just so annoying that it’s caused fans to walk away in droves. But every now and again I have looked at an issue or two and have found the ticking clock of the Thor powers effecting Jane’s cancer to be interesting. Now we are heading to the moment where the cancer is too much and the powers are doing more harm than good. It’ll be interesting to see how Aaron closes the series from here.
BATMAN TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES II #5

A Venom-charged Donnie wages a brutal, one-Turtle war on the Foot Clan. Batman has to stop him and remind him of who he really is; someone who uses smarts-not brawn-to take down the bad guys. Damian and Raphael pay a visit to the Lazarus Pit to try and help a wounded Splinter. Then Batman tries to turn a former foe into an ally as part of a desperate attempt to finally end the reign of Bane.

Three words: Turtle on Venom! At the end of the last issue; Donatello, frustrated that he cannot think of a way to stop the Venom fueled Bebop, Rocksteady and Foot Clan at the hands of Bane, he uses the toxic mixture on himself. This turn Donatello into a rage filled super sized steroided version of himself and is now loose in New York City! Meanwhile, Raph and Damien decide to use the Lazarus pit on a dying Master Splinter; and as most Batman fans know, once you go into the pit, who knows what will come out. The writing for this series has been great from the get go, and the more interaction from the Turtles and Batman characters we get, the more I hope that it’s not too long before we get Batman/TMNT 3.

Harley Quinn is on a self destruction bender in Manhatten while Coney Island is left to be divided all the Gotham crooks whom have flooded the area. On the beach a war between Mr Freeze and Killer Croc has broken out with all of Harley’s friends in the middle trying to save the people of Coney. Meanwhile, Harley herself continues to throw herself at dangerous case after dangerous case, hoping to find something that hurts more than her broken heart. Will Harley snap to her somewhat sideways senses and make her way back to Coney and clean house, or will someone else finally clean Harley’s clock? It’ll be interesting to see what happens both emotionally and physically to Harley and her whole new life that she made with the freaks at Coney Island.

If there is any character I think does not get enough credit nor time in the spotlight of a story it’s Talia Al’Ghul, the daughter of the Demon’s Head, and mother to Damien, the son of the Bat and Grandson of the Demon’s Head. Having broken away from his past as a member of the League of Assassins, and the brainwashing that comes with it thanks to the training of Batman, Damien has come along way as a character. Damien even has a new best friend in John Kent, the son of an alternate reality Superman. However with the arrival of his mother back in the picture with a mission that only Damien can handle, will Damien go back to his old ways or will he continue to honor his father? This will be a great test of Damien’s new character and loyalty to his father and his best friend.
