Announced during the Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Mania will receive a physical edition. They stated that fans have been asking for this over and over. And well, they felt it was time to make it happen. Dubbed “Sonic Mania Plus“, which will be the definitive version of Sonic Mania available for all platforms. However, the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch will get the physical release. No PC version, sadly.
It will include a number of updates, plus two new playable characters; Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. Also included will be an all-new Encore mode and expanded 4-player Competition mode. In addition, the Sonic Mania Plus will include a holographic slipcover, reversible Sega Genesis/Mega Drive sleeve and a 32-page Sonic Mania Art Book. It will cost $29.99 and will be available Summer 2018.
Fans of Sonic Mania who already own the title will also receive the update to Sonic Mania Plus. More details of that will be released later. There seems to be abit of confusion on if the update will be free or will cost anything.
After seeing the Sonic Mania Plus swag, I’m glad I passed over the original Sonic Mania CE release. But this, I’ll be all over this.
