Ubisoft Is Working On The Division 2, Will Be At E3 2018

Well, it’s been rumored and speculated about for a while. But now, Ubisoft has finally come out and announced it. Yep, we’re getting The Division 2, and yet I don’t know what I feel about this.  The news that you can see below was announced by Julian Gerighty, the creative director of developers Massive Entertainment. We also won’t have to wait long to get our first look at the time as it will make an appearance at E3 2018!

I wonder what city we’ll see this time around. Boston? Philadelphia? I mean, it has to be a large city to contain all the chaos. I wonder if this will also continue the story that started in the first game. Or will see something else. Oh, the questions that I have now.

Today, we have an important announcement from the development team of Tom Clancy’s The Division for you.

The past few years have been incredible for the team here at Massive ! When we started working on The Division , it was immediately clear to us that we had something very special here and something we really wanted to do right from the start. But we also knew that we would not be able to achieve this ambitious goal without your help.

Since the release of The Division 2 years ago, we have remained true to this philosophy. We have repeatedly used opportunities to interact with you. Be it via livestreams, polls or just social media. Also, the introduction of the Public Test Server was a way to immediately get feedback from you before we implement new extensive features or make changes to the game. We’ve never stopped striving to make The Division even better, and our recent update 1.8 is testimony to how we can see your overwhelming feedback and support.

All these new opportunities and experiences have also improved the team’s internal processes. We have become quicker and can thus respond better to your feedback. But our vision of what matters to us and what makes The Division so memorable for so many people has never been clearer.

However, when we released our game in 2016, it was clear to us that it was just the opening chapter of a much bigger saga, so we’re excited to share more with you today about what awaits you in The Division Universe next.

We are very pleased to announce that we are currently working on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 . The development is led by Massive Entertainment and driven by close collaboration with Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai. The Division 2 will be based on an updated version of the Snowdrop Enginethat will help us realize our ambitions for this title. More importantly, we can also invest all the experience we’ve accumulated over the past two years in this sequel to make sure everything is going well.

Thankfully, they haven’t forgotten about the original game and are still providing some love for the game. The Xbox One version will see an Xbox One X update that will make the game look better at 1080p and 4K. No mention of a PS4 Pro update. In addition, there will be 2 brand new Global Events and more Legendary difficulty missions. And to get that The Division 2 hpye going, as of June 2018, players will be able to play ‘Shields’, specific achievements that will let us unlock The Division 2 rewards. Per Ubisoft, we’ll know more about how those work come June. The way that last bit was worded, make it seem like the sequel is closer than we thought.

No announcement (yet) on what platforms the sequel will be on. Though it’s safe to assume that it will be on the PS4, Xbox, and PC. With the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X being supported as well. The real question is, will this arrive on the Switch? Tell me you wouldn’t love to play The Division 2, on the go and in the very same city you’re fighting in?

I was really hoping that Ubisoft’s upcoming announcement wouldn’t be a follow-up to the original game. Especially after the rocky start that The Division had. It wasn’t until after the players started dropping off that Ubisoft and Massive had revisited the game and turned it all around. Well, since there is a sequel, I can only hope that they’ve learned some valuable lessons and that The Division 2 won’t meet with the same failure as the original game did.

Alright, I’m excited now. Let’s go!
